If I Had One Day

If I had one day
Just one day
To feel my legs
To walk again
28 years gone by and I still dream
Of leaving this burdensome chair empty
For a day

What would I do?
I’d run until I couldn’t breathe
Do yoga as the sun comes up
Climb the mountains I’ve been admiring
Taking in the beauty around me

If I had one day
I’d go for a walk on the beach
Feel the sand between my toes just once more
Run into the ocean waves
Finally play beach volleyball
Just because I could

If I had one day
I’d run up the stairs that have eluded me and knock on his door
Tell him I love him
Wrap my legs around him
Like I always wanted
Like I wish so badly that I could

If I had one day
I’d get back on the soccer field
I’d play for real this time
Live out my dream of ice skating
And make snow angels
Just once more

If I had one day
I’d walk these city streets
Explore this city I love
Go to the underground bars and clubs
Dancing until the sun comes up

If I had one day
No one would stare
No one would ask if I need help
Or asked “why are you like that”
I wouldn’t be an inspiration
I’d just be me

If I had one day
I’d jump
Jump on trampolines with Sienna
Jump on the bed with you
Wade through waters and jump into waterfalls

I’d explore this world that’s not meant for me

If I had one day
